Bowling Alley Butcher Block

This is our future kitchen island! 8 feet of sweet bowling alley butcher block. This is the first of many reclaimed (scavenged) components that will go into this house.

Two and a half inches of solid maple, 42 inches wide. I'm gonna need at least a couple sawblades for this job.. I'm tempted to make a one-lane bowling alley in the basement..

Rough-in. We had the electrical inspector through for the rough-in inspection today. We're nearly there. Then its on to insulating, and drywall to get the final certification.. phew.

The last of the nails in the ceiling came down last night. Next up: unsqueaking the upstairs floorboards and furring out the ground floor ceiling.

  1. Jay, you must be so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of WORK that lies ahead for fixing up this old house.

On the other hand, it is so exciting. How do you manage to sleep or think of anything else?

It's so great that you are able to get recycled things like that great bowling alley stuff.

I tried to comment last night but it crashed. shall try again.
